Death, Dopamine and How I Learned to Love Uncertainty

The Institue of Design at IIT, Chicago invited me to discuss my work and experiences as a Design Interactions graduate and now independent speculative designer based in Chicago. The students and professors very quickly asked me a good round of questions relating to my practice, the crossovers between art and design, the differences between what speculative design in relation to the traditional product design model and the implications and perhaps merits of working on subjects that ask more questions about our alternate futures rather than pose possible solutions for today.

To give an explanation as to how my work has progressed I shared a timeline of my efforts over the past 8 years breaking down three particualr areas of change and  influence in my work. The Design Enlightenment period during my years studying Design Interactions at the RCA , the Post It Note period represents working for various design research consultancies and more recently my move to Chicago offering me the freedom of time to explore more opportunities as a speculative designer.
